IAAC Stick Demo
The Imperial Amerikan Air Corp under the instructions of Prof. Mark Donnelly and the Keystone Academy of Defense are presenting a demonstration of single stick. It is the goal of both the IAAC and the KAD to encourage single stick practice and competitions in the steampunk community along with other forms of Western martial arts.
Singlestick, also known as cudgels, refers to both a martial art that uses a wooden stick as well as the weapon used in the art. It began as a way of training soldiers in the use of swords such as the sabre. American President Theodore Roosevelt and his friend General Leonard Wood were fond of this sport and used to emerge from a contest quite bruised from their rounds.
Since unrestricted infantry sabre play can be rather messy, and can negatively impact a site’s insurance the troopers of the IAAC and their KAD allies will display their sabre skills through single stick demonstration as well as answer questions on how you too can participate in…single stick.

Grab your teacups and your ‘saucers, how dreadful (Please put down that Chaucer!) and keep a tight hold of your manners. We’ll leave the misbehavior to the professional miscreants, as they show all and sundry how, as the Count puts it, “You give a child a HINT of a decent upbringing and they’re ruined for life!” Well it’s time to fix that … by supplementing your lazy, neglectful parenting with some good old fashion old world abuse! Cheers!
